Fechner
Card-F-02-05. Fechner DEH: Humanity will awake to a new & thrilling world of Angels. How much richer & more significant the night sky will be for us who know that we are looking at a population of Persons. Like the shepherd we shall see the Angelic Hosts that now we are blind to. What scope for imagination & feeling! How much more worshipful is such a living & worshipping Universe! Here is material enough for a whole renaissance of thought & feeling, a renaissance from the dead world of a shallower & pessimistic (but dialectically necessary) science to a deeper & truer science.
The world is being reborn for us. The cosmos is coming alive — more alive than ourselves! We cannot yet realise how profound the effect will be upon the human spirit.
(DH reading Fechner November 1947)
Card-F-02-08 DEH C.S. [Common Sense] objects to argument by analogy. We reply that C.S., in assuming other men are conscious, is arguing from analogy. To abandon arguments from analogy is to revert to solipsism.
