Index-Card-H-33
Card-H-33-07. Reading Hegel.
DH: “Make the point that talk is of little use. Interchange contemplation & reading. Here is a real development in communion with the mind of society, which is your true super-mind. Thus your growth is by the interaction of your lower with your higher self — though necessarily the latter is at first external & given, you make it your own. Talk is, almost always, not communion, but unfruitful opposition, making points.”
Card-H-33-15. Reading Hegel.
DH: “A danger for few in the West perhaps, but still a danger especially for the religious. Shallow unification denies the purpose of divisions of the world, which is to realise unity through suffering. Those who have been & in some moods still are, conscious of the acuteness of separation, division & evil in themselves & the world are those to whom the subsequent unification means most.”
Card-H-033-16
DH: “The greater the “evil” the greater the “good” that must resolve it.”
Card-H-33-17
DH: “Towards the end we must praise C.S’s function in pushing us on towards the destruction of itself. C.S. is not merely useful: it is an essential factor in the dialectic.”
