Card-C-40-03 DEH C [Cook] means presumably that one should have some theology & some philosophy, and should practice one of the fine arts, if one’s religion is to be kept sweet [?]. I think this is a laudable ideal & very right in principle. The law is, that religion is a [symbol — up/down hierarchical] movement involving all of you, adding to your vital activity, making you more alive all through.

For example the possibility that I should today (23.1.45) be in Manchester is now no more. But the meaning of this day here for me in Calcutta needs all Time to bring it out: this day is changed & filled out by every day that shall follow it to the end of Time.
