Index-Card-C-35-10 DEH For God to be God, He must, as His parts, ‘degenerate’ right down to sub-e. Cells lose many freedoms in a man’s body. The saint has to pay for his growth by much loss of human delights. Life’s development requires the degeneration of many species. Katabolism.

Index-Card-C-35-13 DEH There is a sense in which the mystic, most merged of men, is the most individual. Later: It is the struggle of you against your environment which binds your cells in you, struggle of nation against nation binds men into nation. But it is also the unity of nations into a bigger whole MAN, which is the ground of their opposition. It is the unity of men in society which is the basis of their disunion of interaction. Struggle is the basis of harmonious union & unity is the basis of struggle. Men fight because they are one. Men are one because they oppose one another (creatively)
